Crews located a storage closet/structure inside the building with stored building materials on fire, which burned up through the roof in one location and damaged some large structural components. Ultimately, it took 68 firefighters 26 minutes to extinguish the flames. No reported injuries. Structure Fire - Now Out; INC#0252; 05:35AM; 501 E 7th St; https://bit.ly/48IdDuA; #Downtown; Thanks to prompt LAFD notification by the building's fire alarm monitoring service, Los Angeles Firefighters arrived quickly at a 6 story center-hallway style apartment building to find fire within one third floor unit. The first arriving 30 LAFD personnel took just 17 minutes (5:52 AM) to access, confine and fully extinguish the flames, holding the blaze within the apartment of origin. The 69 year-old male resident of the involved unit sustained severe (second-degree) burn injury to 30% of his body, and has been taken by LAFD Paramedics to a regional burn care facility in critical condition. No other injuries have been reported. The Los Angeles Fire Department reminds local residents that not all building fire alarm systems are monitored. Anyone who witnesses evidence of fire, or a ringing fire alarm, should act promptly to escape harm, and never hesitate to call 9-1-1 immediately to assure the fire department is aware and responding. Structure Fire - Now Out; INC#1327; 06:41PM; 821 N Spring St; https://bit.ly/4aG5SHm; #Chinatown; 49 LAFD Firefighters took just 41 minutes (7:22 PM) to search for, access, confine and fully extinguish a small but stubborn fire, held in check by fire sprinklers, within one second-floor (retail clothing) business in a large two-story row of commercial occupancies. During fire attack, one adult male civilian was found within/near the premises suffering from apparent smoke inhalation. He is currently being questioned by LAPD (Central Division Incident #3529) and LAFD Investigators to determine his relationship with the fire, as he is prepared for ambulance transport to an area hospital. No other injuries reported. Structure Fire - FATALITY; INC#0218; 05:13AM; 756 South Boyle Avenue; https://bit.ly/3vicZ8H; Boyle Heights; There were a total of five occupants in the home. Two patients were pulled out of the fire and transported in critical condition. A third patient was located outside the structure, on the porch, sadly beyond medical help and determined deceased on scene. The two occupants who were out of the home upon LAFD arrival are being evaluated for any possible injuries. Ages/genders unknown at this time. While conducting a search of the building, firefighters located a victim and pulled them out in critical condition. A thorough secondary search was clear with no other occupants located.
