Update Technical Rescue; INC#1492; 10:08PM; 1349 S Flower St; https://bit.ly/3zfySXW; #DowntownLA; Firefighters used specialized cameras to pinpoint the location of the man within the 4-story chimney, prior to breaching the wall from inside the apartment building. LAFD Urban Search and Rescue crews were able to break through into the vertical space using electric-powered tools (to avoid carbon monoxide build up inside the building where the breach operation took place) and entered the shaft below the man and slide him down to safety. The approximately 25-year-old male was transported to a local hospital with moderate injures. The contents of both cars are ordinary combustibles, identified as automotive parts, such as seating components. No injury. No structures threatened. No off-site hazard identified. Crews used defensive firefighting tactics (from the exterior only) and set up ladder pipes and other heavy streams to attack the fire. The first 30 firefighters extinguished the flames in just 19 minutes. Crews will remain on scene for an extended period of time to chase down hidden hot spots and overhaul the building. No reported injuries.
