Structure Fire - Now Out; INC#0048; 12:48AM; 125 W Adams Bl; https://bit.ly/3GodXpp; #HistoricSouth-Central; Vacant 2-story Craftsman-style home, fully involved upon fire department arrival. Firefighters proceeded in defensive mode (without making entry into the structure) in the interest of safety; collapse of second floor occurred just prior to knockdown with no injuries to personnel. Exposed structures successfully defended, with fire fully extinguished in 23 minutes by first-arriving companies. Building and Safety notified and en route — firefighters remain on scene for overhaul. Knockdown - Greater Alarm Structure Fire; INC#1299; 06:35PM; 2009 E 25th St; https://bit.ly/3Ex3SpB; #Downtown; *Address Remains Tentative*. 89 LAFD Firefighters took just 28 minutes in a well-coordinated offensive fire attack, to quell a large outside rubbish fire that escalated quickly to threaten a 100' x 200' one story commercial building. Though a large volume of smoke was found within the building, firefighters were successful in preventing fire damage to the structure. No injury. Earthquake Mode; INC#0584; 10:15AM; 200 Rfs; https://bit.ly/3wjsDl6; #Citywide; A preliminary magnitude 5.2 earthquake occurred at 10:08 AM PDT, centered near San Diego County, California. Pursuant to protocol, the LAFD is now in earthquake mode, as personnel from all 106 neighborhood fire stations conduct a strategic survey by land, air and sea of their districts, examining critical infrastructure and areas of local concern across our 470 square mile City of Los Angeles jurisdiction. Once this process is complete and reports are consolidated, assuming there is no significant damage, LAFD Earthquake Mode will be complete. This process typically takes less than one hour. There are currently no initial reports of structural damage or injuries. An update will be provided once LAFD Earthquake Mode is complete. Firefighters ask you to prepare for aftershocks. If inside when shaking starts: Drop, Cover, Hold On! Protect your head and neck while taking cover under sturdy furniture or near a sturdy interior wall, away from windows and doorways until the shaking stops.
