Update Confined Space Rescue; 03:09PM; 755 S Spring St; internal:/; #DTLA 30M patient was initially conscious and talking but is now unresponsive. The LAFD is quickly setting up the equipment required to safely make entry into the tank and rescue the patient. This 'confined space' rescue is regulated by federal safety laws that protect both the rescuers and the victims to ensure it is performed without further harm. 71 FFs on scene. Final Update Structure Fire; 11:54PM; 4918 E MENDOTA AV; internal:/; Bougainvillea vegetation was wrapped around the security bars rendering the 72 y/o man unable to open them and safely exit the burning home on his own. Update Structure Fire 01/12/2017

Update Structure Fire; 11:30PM; 4918 E MENDOTA AV; internal:/; A 72 y/o male was rescued from the 1st story of a split level home. He was found by firefighters behind a window with security bars, unable to get out (It is not immediately known as to why he was unable to get out). Firefighters quickly cut the bars and pulled him outside the burning home to safety. We are pleased to say he was transported to a local hospital in good condition. There was excessive storage inside the home and it is not immediately known if there were functional smoke alarms.
