Knockdown - Major Emergency Structure Fire 09/19/2018 INC#0715

Knockdown - Major Emergency Structure Fire; INC#0715; 02:46PM; 2881 E Pico Bl; internal:/; Boyle Heights; FINAL: 150 LAFD Firefighters took just 2 hours to fully extinguish flames, confining them within a 80' x 100' one-story industrial building housing "Passion Imports, Inc.( https://passionimportsca.com/ ) a purveyor of apparel, accessories and souvenirs; Three LAFD members performing vertical ventilation sustained painful though non-life threatening burn injury during the firefight, when a portion of the roof they were on suddenly and unexpectedly gave way, causing one firefighter to partially fall through the burning roof; He immediately tried to lift himself from peril, and was quickly assisted in doing so by his colleagues; Sustaining the most serious burn injury of the three, he was taken to an area hospital in critical condition; His two colleagues sustained lesser burn injury and were taken to the hospital in fair condition; No other injuries were reported; The building contained dense storage of ordinary combustibles; Firefighters skillfully prevented fire from extending to the connected building to the west or any nearby structures in the industrial neighborhood; LAFD personnel will remain at the scene throughout the evening; Monetary loss from the fire has yet to be tabulated; The fire's cause remains under investigation; FS 17; Batt 1; Central Bureau; Council District 14; - Brian Humphrey

Update Major Emergency Structure Fire 09/19/2018 INC#0715

Update Major Emergency Structure Fire; INC#0715; 02:31PM; 2881 E Pico Bl; internal:/; Boyle Heights; Address confirmed as 2881; 150 Firefighters have confined flames within the building of fire origin, now confirmed to be 80' x 100' one-story industrial building of arched truss roof construction that had heavy smoke showing on firefighter's arrival; Three LAFD members on the roof to perform a critical vertical ventilation role were injured shortly after ascending to the roof when a portion of same suddenly and unexpectedly gave way; They affected a self rescue from the damaged roof area and were assisted to ground level via a ladder; All three sustained non-life threatening injury, including burns, and are now being treated at an area hospital; There were no other civilian or responder injuries; The building contained dense (apparently baled and containerized?) storage of what are believed to be ordinary combustibles (clothing?) from a business that has yet to be named; Firefighters skillfully prevented fire from extending to the connected building to the west or any nearby structures in the industrial neighborhood; LAFD PIO's are at Evergreen and Pico to assist the media; Motorists are asked to avoid the immediate area; LAFD personnel will remain at the scene throughout the evening to complete extinguishment; Monetary loss has yet to be tabulated; The fire's cause remains the focus of an active investigation; FS 17; Batt 1; Central Bureau; Council District 14; Dispatched LAFD Units: E17 RA17 RA25 E202 T2 E9 E209 E221 T21 BC1 BC2 SQ21 E14 E21 T9 E203 T3 CM22 E220 T20 EM11 BC11 E3 UR3 HR3 RA3 UR88 BC14 E25 E201 T1 E4 E10 E250 T50 RA14 RA21 EM13 EM5 EM25 CM21 EM18 BC13 RM4 AR1 AR10 E15 T11 E233 T33 E64 BC18 BC9 BC10 AR21 AR12 BC14 EA1 EM4 EM9 RA26 RA47 HU59 HL7; - Brian Humphrey

Update Structure Fire KNOCKDOWN 09/17/2018 INC#1189
