Rubbish Fire; INC#1097; 02:58PM; 1057 E Chavez Av; https://bit.ly/44opfBb; Boyle Heights; Initially dispatched as a single engine response to a rubbish fire, additional resources were requested to handle a large outside fire at a junkyard involving two mobile homes and exposing other vehicles. The incident is creating a large plume of smoke which may be seen from the surrounding area. There are no structures involved and the exposure is limited within the yard. The train station has been evacuated out of precaution. A small electrical fire in an electrical cabinet was located and extinguished. Firefighters proceeded in the offensive mode, discovering a contents fire in one room that had extended into the home's attic. Knockdown declared in 21 minutes with 35 firefighters working on scene. Concerns over the integrity of the structure is causing the IC (incident commander) to maintain a defensive posture, fighting the fire from the exterior only. Apartment buildings adjacent to the fire are being monitored and protected by fire crews, with no evacuation anticipated. Update KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#0669; 10:56AM; 1905 W Wilshire Bl; https://bit.ly/4i9Io1b; Westlake; It took 66 firefighters 50 minutes to knockdown the stubborn fire which began in the basement but continued to spread through the walls to the upper floors. Firefighters placed hose lines on every floor and opened up the walls to ensure completed extinguishment. LAFD Arson units have been requested to investigate the cause of the blaze. No reported injuries.
