Both patients were quickly extricated, but sadly, one was beyond medical help. The other will be transported in grave condition. A third patient is being assessed on scene for seemingly-minor injuries. Crews searched the train for additional injuries, but found no complaints from passengers. KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#0296; 06:48AM; 820 S Bonnie Brae St; https://bit.ly/3Z620sE; #Westlake; Firefighters arrived to find an out building on fire, spreading to a two-story living space (guest house? accessory dwelling unit?). 54 Firefighters split their efforts to extinguish both structures in 24 minutes. Firefighters found one occupant in the living quarters and evacuated him. As a precaution, firefighter-paramedics did a full assessment and found him to be in good condition, with no need for treatment or transport. No injuries. Firefighters made entry and located one unit containing fire on the second floor, which had filled the floor with smoke. 48 Firefighters extinguished the flames in 23 minutes and will continue to utilize blowers to systematically remove smoke and reintroduce fresh air into the building. No reported injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
