Update Structure Fire; INC#0101; 03:20AM; 112 W 5th St; https://bit.ly/3vtI6Mb; Downtown; Due to excessive storage conditions found within the fire unit, firefighters need to remove large amounts of debris to ensure there are no smoldering hot spots remaining. Given the fire unit is on the 7th floor, it requires an extended duration salvage and overhaul operation. Additional resources are on scene to ensure adequate staffing to complete the work (18 fire companies and 5 rescue ambulances). There are no reported injuries. LA Building and Safety are enroute for an evaluation of the building and its ability to occupy residents. LAFD Arson unit is on scene to assist with the cause investigation.
