Update Rescue; 09:46PM; 4245 N LAUREL CANYON BL; internal:/; #StudioCity; Firefighters arrived on-scene to find one car upside-down in a large dark sinkhole full of rushing water. The single occupant was standing on the upside down car, approximately 10' below street level. Firefighters jumped into action and rapidly lowered a 20' extension ladder down to the 48 y/o F allowing her to climb out, and transported her to a local hospital in fair condition. (While being transported, the patient told firefighters that when she was driving, she felt the car pitch to the left, then it tumbled into the sinkhole. The airbags deployed. Water started coming in the car. She tried to raise the windows which would not work. She was able to open the door and climb on top of the car and started screaming for help. She said, she thought she was going to die. Then she heard the firefighters yell back to her.) The driver of the second vehicle self extricated and was uninjured. The pavement continued to give way and the second vehicle fell in the sinkhole. It is anticipated that the vehicles will be removed in the daylight tomorrow; FS 78; Batt 14; Valley Bureau; Council District 2; Erik Scott
