Update Major Emergency Structure Fire 11/04/2022 INC#0088

Update Major Emergency Structure Fire; INC#0088; 05:35PM; 3133 E 12th St; https://bit.ly/3T6fgtQ; #BoyleHeights; LAFD Firefighters continue to operate at the scene of this morning's predawn fire that destroyed a one-story commercial building fully involved with fire on firefighters arrival. We are pleased to confirm there have been no responder or civilian injuries reported, as stubborn flames have been accessed and extinguished, and the building's immediate physical hazards abated through the strategic use of specialized LAFD heavy equipment, including the RS3 Robotic Firefighting Vehicle and an LAFD Excavator. Though the building housed smoking products, including a large amount of tobacco, firefighters are not aware of any specific hazard related to smoke from the fire, which was largely extinguished at 3:08 AM. As the burning tobacco naturally contained nicotine, firefighters took efforts to prevent personal contact with contaminants and to contain water runoff, so that it could be serially tested by LAFD, health and environmental officials. Anyone who may have come into contact with water runoff from this fire, is encouraged to wash thoroughly with soap and water, so as to limit any health concerns related to nicotine exposure. LAFD efforts, including a formal fire cause investigation will continue at the scene this evening.; FS 17; Batt 1; Central Bureau; Council District 14; Dispatched LAFD Units: AR1 AR17 BC1 BC11 BC13 BC5 CM20 CM21 CM22 E1 E14 E15 E16 E17 E2 E20 E201 E202 E203 E209 E21 E210 E211 E220 E221 E25 E250 E3 E4 E43 E9 EA1 EM1 EM11 HE2 HR3 JT1 JT2 RA17 RA2 RA25 RA3 RA803 RS3 SQ21 T1 T10 T11 T2 T20 T21 T3 T50 T9 UR3 UR88; CH7; 13; - Brian Humphrey
