KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#0196; 04:35AM; 2135 W Slauson Av; https://bit.ly/3XntfRU; #ChesterfieldSquare; Firefighters arrived at the site of a previous burn (from just over 24 hours prior) to find a one-story commercial with heavy fire showing. As crews deployed hose lines and placed ladders, the flames grew rapidly in the already-ventilated building. Firefighters pulled back into defensive mode early in the incident, setting up ladder pipes, portable monitors, and other large hose lines (master streams). The fire consumed two adjacent occupancies, that share a center wall: a one-story commercial and a one-story church. Thankfully, there were no reported injuries. It took 83 firefighters 77 minutes to extinguish the blaze. Per protocol for fires involving a House of Worship, Arson Investigators are responding to conduct an investigation. There will be smoke in the area and crews working on scene for an extended period of time, as the hot spots under the debris continue to smolder.
