Knockdown - Greater Alarm Structure Fire; INC#0866; 01:02PM; 16816 W Saticoy St; https://bit.ly/4ecoDTv; #LakeBalboa; Despite oppressively hot weather (108° F), and multiple explosions within the fire building on LAFD arrival (believed related to vehicles and/or equipment typical of such premises) and structural compromise from intense flames, the 104 assigned firefighters took just 63 minutes in largely defensive firefighting operations to access, confine and fully extinguish heavy fire that consumed a 3,544 square foot one-story automotive body and paint repair facility ("New Century Auto Body & Paint"), as well as several vehicles within and adjacent to the business. No injuries were reported. The 70 year-old structure, of cinder block construction was not equipped with an optional fire sprinkler system.
