CONTROLLED Structure Fire; INC#1501; 11:30PM; 213 E 3rd St; https://bit.ly/3Db2hRt; #DowntownLA; *Corrected Address* Approximately 135 firefighters responded to the three-story abandoned commercial with heavy fire showing. Defensive operations were safe and effective in order to knock down the bulk of the fire. Firefighters quickly extinguished fire that extended to one unit of the neighboring 5-story residential building before it spread any further (with help from a fire sprinkler). Firefighters will be on scene for an extended period of time to uncover and extinguish any smoldering debris within the burned out structure. There was no collapse during the incident, but the building has been red-tagged by Building and Safety and nearby sidewalks are closed to the public as a precaution, as there are signs of compromised structural integrity. It remains unsafe for firefighters to enter and the official "KNOCKDOWN" declaration will likely be tomorrow morning. LAFD RS3 and heavy equipment will aid in the efforts. No injuries.
