Sharon Delugach is the vice-president of the City of Los Angeles’ Fire Commission, the civilian board charged with overseeing and making policy for the City of Los Angeles’ Fire Department. She comes to the Los Angeles City Fire Department with over 30 years of experience in administrative and policy roles with elected representatives and advocacy groups. She currently serves as Chief of Staff for LAUSD School Board Member Jackie Goldberg. In this position, she drives the mission of providing full access to an excellent education for every student, in every neighborhood.
Sharon has also worked as a Community Engagement Coordinator for the American Federation of Teachers, where she was dedicated to building community/labor coalitions advocating for educational and racial justice.
In addition, Sharon has worked as Staff Director and Director of Policy for the UCLA Labor Center. Earlier in her career, Sharon served as Chief of Staff for LA City Councilmember Jackie Goldberg, Chief of Staff for LAUSD School Board Member Steve Zimmer, Policy Director for United Firefighters LA City, and Commission Appointments Manager for Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa.
In addition to her professional experience, Sharon keeps involved in her community, including serving as a Coach for the National Education Association's Strategic Campaign Institute for Community Schools, a member of the LAUSD Community Schools Steering Committee, and Vice President of the Metcalf Creek Cabin Owners Association. She has organized on behalf of several election campaigns for Karen Bass for Mayor, Jackie Goldberg for School Board, and Barack Obama for President.
