Hands Only CPR:
CPR is one of the most effective ways to treat someone having a possible cardiac arrest. In order to properly administer CPR, follow these steps:
- Call 9-1-1, or have someone call for you. The 9-1-1 dispatcher can also assist you with care if needed.
- Place the heel of one hand on the center of the person’s chest, with the other hand on top.
- Push down hard and fast aiming for a rate of 100 to 120 compressions per minute.
- If you feel tired, switch off with someone else if available.
- Continue compressions until emergency services arrive.
Hands-Only CPR can double or even triple the chances of survival for someone in cardiac arrest. With these tips, you can properly administer Hands-Only CPR when needed.
