The truck lane remains closed while firefighters continue fire suppression and runoff containment efforts. Caltrans is on scene to assist with removal of two unburned autos from the trailer. Closures include the 1, 2, and 3 lanes of the NB 5; the 3, 4, and 5 lanes of the SB 5; all SB 5 truck lanes; and Balboa Blvd between Foothill and Old Road. Firefighters are employing Class B firefighting foam and attempting to save autos which are not yet involved with fire. The tractor-trailer driver has been confirmed uninjured. Tractor-Trailer Fire; INC#1164; 05:35PM; Sb 5 Fy; https://bit.ly/4bvXGdl; #Sylmar; First-arriving companies report a tractor-trailer hauling multiple electric vehicles stopped on the side of the southbound 5 Freeway truck lanes (south of Balboa Blvd, north of the 210 Freeway). Both the truck and at least four vehicles on the trailer are involved with fire. Fire resource access has been slowed due to rush hour traffic -- CHP is assisting with road closures (LOG 1777). Motorists are encouraged to keep well clear of the smoke. Additional LAFD resources, as well as LA County Fire resources, are still en route (#3711). An LAFD Rescue Helicopter has lowered a Flight Paramedic to medically assess the patient, who declines hospital transport. CONTAINED - Brush Fire; INC#0839; 01:21PM; 331 S Av 52; https://maps.app.goo.gl/89RcPbef9Ca15fm69; #HighlandPark; Despite oppressive heat, sporadic wind and fire involving heavy brush in near vertical terrain, the well-coordinated effort of LAFD water-dropping helicopters and LAFD ground crews have fully contained the fire to approximately one (1) acre of vegetation within Ernest E. Debs Regional Park. One of the first arriving LAFD Firefighters to engage in the relentless 40 minute firefight is now being medically examined and treated for apparent heat exhaustion. No other injuries reported. No structures involved. No evacuation required. Firefighters and LAFD Hand Crews will remain at scene this afternoon to mop up hotspots and complete a bare soil perimeter around the burned area. The following ROAD CLOSURES will continue until LAFD operations are complete: Northbound 110 Parkway offramp at Avenue 52, as well as Griffin Avenue / Avenue 52 between Montecito Drive and the 110 Parkway. No ETO determined.
