No injury. No structures involved. No evacuation. An LAFD UAS (drone) unit will provide aerial reconnaissance and command support with thermal imagery, as ground crews continue to mop up hot spots this afternoon. ROAD CLOSURE: San Ysidro Road will remain closed to through traffic in both directions between Summitridge Drive and Tower Road until LAFD operations are complete. Update #SpurFire Brush Fire; INC#0902; 02:10PM; 1600 N San Ysidro Dr; https://bit.ly/3U0Z2Vw; #BeverlyCrest; LAFD ground and air crews have been joined by BHFD in now stopping forward progress of the fire via a well-coordinated direct attack on flames that have thus far consumed less than one (1) acre of light-to-medium grass and brush in steep terrain between homes on San Ysidro Drive and Ferrari Drive. No structure damage. No evacuation. Crews are continuing to battle hot spots and achieve full containment of the fire. Structure Fire - NOW OUT; INC#0805; 01:25PM; 928 S Broadway St; https://bit.ly/3vKtbQx; Downtown; Firefighters responded to an 11-story residential high rise and located an auto fire on the P4 level which cause smoke to infiltrate up to the 7th floor. Firefighters extinguished the auto fire (at 1:59PM) with no injuries reported and no damage to the structure. Crews are now addressing a water evacuation issue and ensuring the building is cleared of smoke. Traffic will be closed on Broadway between 9th and 10th until crews are clear.
