Update River Rescue 05/16/2019 INC#0494

Update River Rescue; INC#0494; 09:33AM; 2910 N Acresite St; http://bit.ly/2VEGaA2; Atwater Village; A 33-year-old male and a 37-year-old female we left stranded on an island in the LA River when swift water rose around their location. A third individual tried to help them and became a victim as well. The water was approximately 7 mph and 3 feet deep. LAFD Swift Water team deployed a boat from the shore (with no motor) attached to tag lines and traversed the river, retrieved the victims, and were pulled back across to safety. All 3 patients were evaluated by paramedics after being rescued. The 2 who were originally stranded were treated and transported for hypothermia and other minor injuries. 1 patient declined transport. Structure Fire; INC#1566; 09:59PM; 7451 N Coldwater Canyon Av; http://bit.ly/2Ht2qD5; Sun Valley; 41 firefighters extinguished a blaze in a 1-story commercial auto collision business in 18 minutes. Forcible entry on multiple sides of the building revealed several autos on fire inside. A coordinated fire attack with vertical ventilation led to a rapid extinguishment. No reported injuries. Brush Fire 05/15/2019 INC#1141

Brush Fire; INC#1141; 04:27PM; Radio Hill; http://bit.ly/2VGXDHW; Elysian Park; A small topography-driven (versus wind-driven) brush fire broke out on Radio Hill (unknown cause). LAFD ground crews anchored the fire with brush hose packs and worked around the flanks of the fire, along with air support making drops at the head of the fire, to quickly extinguish it and prevent the spread to any businesses or neighborhoods nearby. No reported injuries. Final burn footprint approx 1 acre. Update Rescue 05/14/2019 INC#1205

Update Rescue; INC#1205; 06:01PM; 10800 W Wentworth St; http://bit.ly/2HnyY19; Shadow Hills; Horse has been successfully rescued from the mud and is standing on solid ground. A second (unrelated) female patient became stuck in mud a few hundred yards away. A portion of the rescue team redirected their efforts and coordinated the rescue of the second patient. Both patients and horse have been freed. Both female patients are being evaluated by paramedics as a precaution. A veterinarian has been contacted to evaluate the horse. A third individual is now being reported missing on scene. The rider is safe and has no reported injuries. The horse is moving around and seemingly has no injuries.
