Clarification on the buildings affected is pending. At least one metal clad building was destroyed by the fire. The bulk of the fire was outside in the pallet yard. Update Structure Fire; INC#1481; 11:23PM; 1755 E 57th St; https://bit.ly/2WA4e4V; Central-Alameda; With 116 firefighters assigned to the incident, this is now a Major Emergency Structure Fire. A large pallet fire has engulfed a metal clad building and threatening at least one residential structure. Firefighters deployed heavy streams and are in a defensive mode. They are making progress but with the dense storage of wood pallets, this fire is burning fiercely and will not be a quick knockdown. Downed power lines are an additional hazard firefighters are working around. No injuries reported. LAFD PIO Captain Weireter is enroute for media availability (approximately 35 min ETA).
