Update Brush Fire; INC#0386; 09:56AM; 1300 N Lake Dr; https://bit.ly/2BKPFEV; Beverly Crest; Firefighters now have hand lines completely surrounding the burn area, 100% containment. The incident commander will be releasing the air resources while the ground firefighters continue to conduct mop-op operations. The overhaul of this area will likely be an extended duration operation due to the mix of un-burned/partially burned and burned (referred to as a 'dirty burn') fuel within the containment zone. No additional resources are anticipated. No structures damaged and on injuries reported. LACoFD and Beverly Hills FD have resources on the incident. Firefighters continue to make progress against the fire and are close to getting hand lines in place around the entirety of the burn area. LACoFD Air Ops assisted with water drops and are now released. Additional ground crews from both LACoFD and Beverly Hills FD remain on scene. A downed power line was identified as a safety hazard and communicated to all on scene. There is no wind and this is a terrain driven fire. Access is difficult due to the terrain and heavy brush, therefore the primary attack is currently via water drops while ground crews make their way in to lay hose lines. LACoFD is also responding a full brush fire assignment. Update KNOCKDOWN Brush Fire; INC#0911; 05:10PM; NB 110 Fwy x Solano; https://bit.ly/2LdU1aC; Elysian Park; The flames have been knocked down on Radio Hill, east of the 110 Freeway, by 59 LAFD personnel in approximately one hour. Companies surrounded the burn with hose lines and will remain on scene to improve the containment line and put out hot spots/smoldering vegetation in the burn area. No reported injuries. Ground crews (12 fire companies assigned) are working on anchoring and flanking the fire from two sides, and LAFD Air Ops are en route. Multiple fires in the area (unknown if fires are affiliated in any way). Cause is under investigation. Structure Fire; INC#0241; 06:40AM; 14015 W Van Nuys Bl; https://bit.ly/2A6lgQE; Arleta; The first 26 LAFD personnel extinguished a fire contained mostly in the walls and attic of one unit (party supply store) of a strip mall in 23 minutes (at 7:03AM). Firefighters were initially challenged in locating all hidden areas of fire extension. Rooftop ventilation aided in clearing smoke inside, allowing fire attack crews to work more quickly in achieving a knockdown. No reported injuries. One patient is being assessed by LAFD firefighter-paramedics.
