Red Flag Parking Restrictions 12/03/2020

Red Flag Parking Restrictions; 08:00AM; Los Angeles; Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone; Due to the forecast weather conditions, the Red Flag Parking Restriction Program will be activated TOMORROW December 3, 2020, at 8:00AM, until further notice. It is important that fire apparatus have room to respond quickly to a fast-moving brush fire while simultaneously allowing residents to evacuate, if necessary. During Red Flag Parking Restriction periods, vehicles illegally parked in posted locations within the Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zones (VHFHSZ) will be towed. The parking restrictions are planned for at least 24 hours and will be reevaluated based on the weather conditions. For areas in the VHFHSZ, please look for the "Red Flag Days" no parking signs and ensure you do not violate the restriction. Hazardous Materials; INC#0472; 09:16AM; 701 E New Dock St; https://bit.ly/3dgp53B; San Pedro; LAFD responded by land and sea to a reported hazardous materials spill in San Pedro, after a container appeared to be leaking. LAFD Hazardous Materials specialists determined that the substance, fortunately, was not coming from the container, but rather from an unrelated water line that broke. Units are being released and the area is safe, with no hazardous materials being discovered in the area. Update KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#0172; 05:01AM; 1248 Arapahoe St; https://bit.ly/35zpEFn; Pico-Union; *Corrected Address* An outside fire extended into several one-story commercial buildings (approx 20,000 sq-ft total). 85 LAFD firefighters extinguished the blaze in 53 minutes using a combination of defensive and offensive tactics that included ladder pipes and interior hand lines at different stages of the fire. The structural integrity of portions of the building has been compromised by the intense heat (Building and Safety notified). There were no reported injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation. MOTORISTS: Pico Blvd will be blocked by fire department apparatus this morning. Structure Fire - Now Out; INC#0658; 12:14PM; 3075 W Harrington Av; https://bit.ly/3loQzrL; Harvard Heights; At 11:56 PM, LAFD responded to a three-story apartment building (18 units) built in 1928, with fire in one third-floor unit. 48 firefighters quickly extinguished the flames in 18 minutes. Fire doors in the hallways operated as designed and with the help of firefighters, residents were able to shelter in place to avoid the smoke hazard in the building. Gas-powered blowers were used for horizontal ventilation of the structure to clear the smoke after the fire was out. No reported injuries. Knockdown Greater Alarm Structure Fire 11/30/2020 INC#0639

Knockdown Greater Alarm Structure Fire; INC#0639; 12:36PM; 1243 W Gage Av; https://bit.ly/36pBEcC; VermontSlauson; 72 LAFD responders took just 35 minutes to fully extinguish flames at this Greater Alarm fire involving 3 closely clustered residential structures, and two parked vehicles. The structure of fire origin is now described as a *home* to the rear of the property with its *own* attached garage, both well involved, with intense fire extending to homes to the north and west on LAFD arrival. LAFD Paramedics continue to treat one person (unknown site or incident affiliation) who reportedly sustained a minor laceration. No other injuries reported. Update Greater Alarm Structure Fire; INC#0639; 12:30PM; 1243 W Gage Av; https://bit.ly/36pBEcC; Vermont-Slauson; With 70 LAFD personnel still assigned in an active firefight, this blaze, which extended to a pair of neighboring homes, west and north of the initially involved structure, as well as a pair of parked vehicles, is considered a Greater Alarm. The only active fire at this time is in the structurer to the north. LAFD Paramedics are medically evaluating one person (unknown affiliation) with a minor laceration.
