Physical Rescue (Fatality); INC#1804; 11:36PM; 109 S Rossmore Av; https://bit.ly/3fgwFlB; Hancock Park; One motor vehicle collided with multiple parked vehicles, then ran into a tree, causing one person to be ejected and one to be trapped (both approximately 30 year-old males). Sadly, the trapped patient was deceased inside the vehicle. The ejected patient was transported by LAFD Firefighter/Paramedics to a regional trauma center. LAPD Inc #4734. Air Operations made early drops to keep the flames in check. It took one hour and fifty minutes to access these areas by ground, cut perimeter lines, and fully contain all spot fires. CONTROLLED Structure Fire; INC#1501; 11:30PM; 213 E 3rd St; https://bit.ly/3Db2hRt; #DowntownLA; *Corrected Address* Approximately 135 firefighters responded to the three-story abandoned commercial with heavy fire showing. Defensive operations were safe and effective in order to knock down the bulk of the fire. Firefighters quickly extinguished fire that extended to one unit of the neighboring 5-story residential building before it spread any further (with help from a fire sprinkler). Firefighters will be on scene for an extended period of time to uncover and extinguish any smoldering debris within the burned out structure. There was no collapse during the incident, but the building has been red-tagged by Building and Safety and nearby sidewalks are closed to the public as a precaution, as there are signs of compromised structural integrity. It remains unsafe for firefighters to enter and the official "KNOCKDOWN" declaration will likely be tomorrow morning. LAFD RS3 and heavy equipment will aid in the efforts. No injuries. Update Major Emergency Structure Fire; INC#1501; 08:20PM; 268 S Los Angeles St; https://bit.ly/3DKSPWN; #DowntownLA; At least 120 firefighters continue to battle the three-story commercial building. The structure is showing signs of a potential for collapse. Companies have increased their distance, allowing a buffer for a "collapse zone," a continue flowing heavy streams from the exterior. Intense heat exposed a neighboring five-story residential building, where one unit has caught fire. Thankfully, fire sprinklers are holding the fire in check and preventing rapid spread, as firefighters ascend the stairs to address that unit.
