KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#0125; 07:22AM; 749 S Kohler St; https://bit.ly/4bVBDeO; #Downtown; After a grueling fire fight through the early morning hours, firefighters have now suppressed all active flame related to this blaze. An outside storage area caught fire and spread to several nearby buildings. Two buildings were completely destroyed, and a total of five buildings were impacted by the fire. Firefighters used ladder pipes, large-diameter hand lines, and portable monitors to keep persistent water flow on the fire. Ultimately, it took over 170 firefighters 5 hours and 15 minutes to extinguish the flames. Crews will remain on scene for an extended period of time to uncover hot spots and continue to cool the smoldering material beneath the debris. Smoke will be seen in the area throughout the day. One firefighter sustained a knee injury and was transported to a local hospital in fair condition. No other injuries. Firefighters extricated an approximately 30-year-old male and transported him to a local hospital in serious condition. Sadly, the person in the second vehicle was found to be dead at the scene. Crews will help with extricating the deceased from the wreckage (as a body recovery, not a rescue) to assist LAPD and LA Medical Examiner. Stolen Ambulance Recovered; INC#0600; 11:00AM; 10800 S Prairie Av; #Inglewood; Firefighter-Paramedics responded to a behavioral emergency near the intersection of Gage and Hoover. While on scene, the patient (who appeared to be experiencing a psychiatric crisis) commandeered the rescue ambulance (identified as RA57) and left the scene without any ambulance personnel on board. There were no injuries as a result.
