KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#1307; 07:14PM; 717 S Pacific Av; https://bit.ly/3ObZKwZ; San Pedro; Firefighters arrived at a one-story commercial building with a small portion in the rear containing a second story office space (the last 15-20 feet of approximately 100 foot length was two-story). Crews made access from the rear alley where smoke was billowing out, and found heavy fire in the small second-story portion. Firefighters on the roof coordinated cutting ventilation holes in the roof with interior fire attack companies deploying hose lines below. It took 52 firefighters 41 minutes to access, confine, and extinguish the flames. No reported injuries. Crews now have the flow shut down, and are working to contain as much of the product as they can, and protect storm drains and waterways. There is currently no widespread or escalating hazard to the public. An electrical issue appeared to have melted some items and caused smoke to fill a portion of the building. It took 34 firefighters 24 minutes to access and contain the threat. Crews advanced fire attack hose lines inside the structure, as ventilation crews cut holes in the roof to allow heat and smoke to escape. Ultimately, it took 34 firefighters 20 minutes to access, confine, and extinguish the flames. The fire *appeared* to have started near a space heater. KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#0385; 08:22AM; 1069 W 6th St; https://bit.ly/48F4RxO; #Westlake; Firefighters ascended the stairwell of the four-story vacant office building and located a trash fire on the third floor. The flames were extinguished quickly, but smoke had made its way throughout the building. Crews will remain on scene using blowers to systematically evacuate the smoke from the building room by room, and remove any remaining smoldering materials. It took 48 firefighters 33 minutes to access and extinguish the flames. No reported injuries.
