Thankfully, there were no reports of injuries or structures damaged. There are still hot spots within the burned area that may emanate smoke and will require crews to work in the area for several more hours to improve containment lines and eliminate those hot spots. Crews quickly extended hose lines and applied water to the blaze. It took 38 firefighters 15 minutes from the time of alarm to extinguish the flames. No reported injuries. CONTAINED Brush Fire; INC#0764; 10:27AM; 22340 W Germain St; https://bit.ly/3ME0hq1; #Chatsworth #HummingbirdFire; Over 150 firefighters battled flames in extreme triple-digit heat, where flames quickly spread through the dry and pre-heated vegetation. Crews initially stopped forward progress, but a sudden increase in the wind caused embers to jump over the containment lines and caused the fire to continue to grow. Ultimately, crews were able to stop the spread at approximately 10 total acres, narrowly saving several homes that back up against the wildland. Four firefighters were transported to a local hospital in fair condition with heat-related illness symptoms. KNOCKDOWN Vegetation Fire; INC#1174; 02:07PM; 9165 N Orion Av; https://bit.ly/4dVoaFB; #NorthHills; Firefighters responded to initial reports of a rubbish fire on the east side of the 405 Freeway. The fire spread to the vegetation, heading east, and threatened a one-story single family home on Orion Ave (which backed up to the freeway on ramp). Thirty-four firefighters coordinated a swift attack on the burning vegetation, and narrowly spared the home from becoming involved in the fire. MOTORISTS: The NB Nordhoff on ramp remains closed while crews mop up the area (uncover and extinguish remaining hot spots in the burned brush area). No reported injuries.
