Structure Fire - Now Out; INC#0357; 08:24AM; 11976 W Culver Bl; https://bit.ly/3yuVkw1; #DelRey; Forty-two LAFD firefighters, along with Culver City FD, responded to a four-story modern apartment complex, where fire in one third-floor unit was held in check by an automatic fire sprinkler. Firefighters promptly extinguished the remaining flames and shut down the fire sprinkler. Approximately a dozen people were evacuated do to excessive water in the building, which successfully prevented the fire from advancing throughout the residential structure. Crews will remain on scene for an extended period of time to dewater the affected areas. Thankfully, there were no reported injuries. KNOCKDOWN Greater Alarm Structure Fire; INC#0111; 03:18AM; 1001 E 27th St; https://bit.ly/3yqbQNJ; #HistoricSouthCentral; Firefighters arrived to find a vacant church building (site of a previous burn) fully involved with fire. Crews developed hose lines from the exterior, in defensive mode, due to the uncertain structural stability of the dilapidated building, which sustained partial collapses at times during the fire fight. Ultimately, it took 66 firefighters 38 minutes to complete extinguishment of the intense flames. No reported injuries. No entrapment. *Eight patients* total. 2 declined hospital transport. Six patients were taken to area hospitals by LAFD Paramedics: Two adults in serious condition, 4 children (ages 6-12) with minor injuries. Though seatbelts were used, some of the children were improperly restrained (No car seats in use, at least two children sharing one seat belt). Thankfully, none of the passengers were ejected from the vehicle(s). Media Inquiries: LAPD Valley Traffic Division (Incident #2925). ADVISORY; 10:00AM; Hansen Dam Recreation Area; https://maps.app.goo.gl/9g71V5nJLJgDzeMQA; #LakeViewTerrace; As a result of first responders training for future wildfires, residents of foothill communities near the Hansen Dam Recreation Area in the northeast San Fernando Valley may notice an ongoing presence of public safety aircraft, including fire department helicopters periodically flying in formation, until 2:00 PM today. There is NO emergency and no need for public action. Again, this is a one day only training involving public safety aircraft and ground personnel that will conclude by 2:00 PM.
