Physical Rescue; INC#0295; 06:54AM; SB 5 Fwy x Hollywood Way; Sun Valley; A three-car traffic collision resulted in three injured patients and a minivan on fire. Firefighters split the immediate tasks - one company extinguished the vehicle fire, as others began extricating one trapped patient from a different vehicle. Two patients self-extricated prior to LAFD arrival. LAFD transported all three patients. One adult female was in fair condition and two adult males were in moderate condition. There were reports of an elderly female living in one of the bungalows. Thankfully, she was located on scene and was unharmed. Red Cross has been contacted to assist with displacement. Update KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#0158; 10:41AM; 1004 N San Fernando Rd; https://bit.ly/3jbtf0S; Cypress Park; After approximately two hours from the first alarm, 115 firefighters had eliminated the threat, however pockets of hot burning material still remained. The incident commander ordered LAFD heavy equipment crews to assist with moving rubble and debris to provide better access to firefighters' hose streams. Although the fire was well contained just after 6:00 AM, an official "knockdown" of the fire was not declared until 10:41 AM, 6 hours and 39 minutes after the original alarm. Firefighters will stay many hours through the afternoon (possibly evening) to ensure no hotspots remain that could provide a source for the fire to rekindle (overhaul operations). No reported injuries. No injuries have been reported. San Fernando Road will remain closed to all traffic in the immediate area of the fire until LAFD operations are complete, unknown duration.
