First arriving firefighters took just 17 minutes (9:08 PM) to fully extinguish flames, preventing fire from extending beyond the 4 involved units. No injury. Natural Gas Leak; INC#1244; 03:58PM; 1031 Downey Wy; https://bit.ly/3EJmkbD; #UniversityPark; PRELIM: LAFD supporting SoCalGas crews addressing a natural gas leak at a construction site on the USC Campus, from an approximately 8" pipeline that was reportedly ruptured during construction. No fire. No injury. The immediate area of the leak has been isolated and an unknown number of persons have been calmly evacuated from two buildings as a precaution. KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#2038; 12:19AM; 649 N Spring St - Spring Ic; https://bit.ly/3geO0fj; Chinatown; KNOCKDOWN: After knocking down the bulk of the fire with master streams, the incident returned to the offensive mode. Firefighters made entry to attack the remaining fire which was out of reach and fully extinguished the fire in 45 mins. They defended the exposed 3 story building from damage. A search of the building was clear and no injuries were reported.
