Knockdown - Brush Fire; INC#0130; 04:28AM; 2580 Cahuenga Bl East; https://bit.ly/3VIRJ44; #HollywoodHills; Despite light wind and embercast, precise LAFD helicopter water drops held the one-eighth (0.125) acre of burning medium-to-heavy brush in check, as ground crews hiked to the east side of the Cahuenga Pass south of the Hollywood Cross to fully contain and extinguish flames in less than an hour. No injury. No structure threat or damage. No evacuation. LAFD ground crews will remain at scene this morning to overhaul and fully extinguish smoldering debris. In extinguishing the fire, responders discovered the remains of one person (unknown age / gender / site affiliation / circumstances ) within the involved unit. No other injuries reported. Structure Fire - FATALITY; INC#1769; 10:02PM; 6062 W Fountain Av; https://bit.ly/3utWP8m; Hollywood; FIRE NOW OUT: At 9:48PM the LAFD received a call for a reported structure fire. The first arriving company found a small, one story bungalow with light smoke showing upon arrival. Firefighters initiated an offensive fire attack and located the fire in one room. They quickly extinguished the fire and conducted a search of the building. Firefighters located a deceased person. The preliminary investigation indicates a potential suspicious death prior to the fire. LAFD Arson and LAPD are responding for the full investigation. The fire started in a one story commercial building which was attached (via a division wall) to a two story (street facing) commercial building. The fire extended into the attic of the one story. A primary and secondary search located no occupants in either building. Cause and $ loss TBD.
