KNOCKDOWN Greater Alarm Structure Fire; INC#0473; 09:16AM; 963 W 43rd Pl; https://bit.ly/41b2QWz; #VermontSquare; Firefighters found a large single-family home with fire showing and heavy pressurized smoke coming from the vents. Crews ascended ladders to ventilate the roof, as companies made entry with hose lines to fight the fire from the interior. It took 57 firefighters 21 minutes to extinguish the flames. There were 7 civilian patients found. Two were transported in critical condition by firefighter-paramedics, while the other 5 declined transport after being evaluated on scene. One firefighter was transported in fair condition for minor smoke inhalation. Firefighters found one occupant in the living quarters and evacuated him. As a precaution, firefighter-paramedics did a full assessment and found him to be in good condition, with no need for treatment or transport. No injuries. Firefighters made entry and located one unit containing fire on the second floor, which had filled the floor with smoke. 48 Firefighters extinguished the flames in 23 minutes and will continue to utilize blowers to systematically remove smoke and reintroduce fresh air into the building. No reported injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
