Update KNOCKDOWN Brush Fire; INC#0940; 01:26PM; 1842 W Yosemite Dr; http://bit.ly/2BLT4zH; Eagle Rock; 46 minutes after LAFD was notified of the brush fire, crews in Eagle Rock called a knockdown after a swift and aggressive attack on a fire with challenges, such as limited water access and low power lines. Aerial water drops aided in the extinguishment, as firefighters guarded the perimeter of the nearby Eagle Rock Junior/Senior High School, who remained inside the building, safely sheltering in place (no evacuation necessary). Unknown cause/loss. Firefighters held containment lines with no spot fires escaping the perimeter, and lines were strengthened. Strong winds will continue through Friday, with low humidity and high temperatures. RED FLAG parking restrictions are in effect TODAY 10/24 for at least 24 hours and will be reevaluated based on weather conditions. Look for "Red Flag Days" signs to indicate areas that the "no parking" restrictions are in effect. Red Flag Parking Restrictions 10/23/2019

Red Flag Parking Restrictions; 05:00PM; internal:/; Los Angeles; Due to the forecast for extreme weather conditions, the Red Flag Parking Restriction Program will be activated TOMORROW October 24, 2019, at 8:00AM. In an attempt to increase public safety, the Los Angeles Fire and Transportation Departments created the program to remove illegally parked vehicles in posted locations within the Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zones (VHFHSZ) The parking restrictions are planned for at least 24 hours and will be reevaluated based on the weather conditions. For areas in the VHFHSZ, please look for the "Red Flag Days" no parking signs and ensure you do not violate the restriction; -Nicholas Prange

Northerly wind gusts, up to 45 mph, blew embers in a southwest direction across Palisades Drive. However, firefighters prevented embers from creating spot fires and called in helicopters to make 5 water drops on smoldering debris. Last night’s infrared flight (see video at link above) showed countless hotspots throughout the 45 acre fire footprint, as can be seen in the video below. Firefighters continue to make progress during extreme fire weather conditions in preparation of tomorrow’s Santa Ana winds.Safety Message: The Los Angeles Fire Department encourages you to be prepared in the event of a brush fire. Update #PalisadesFire Brush Fire; INC#0580; 08:00PM; 800 N Palisades Dr; https://www.lafd.org/news/pacific-palisades-brush-fire; Pacific Palisades; The fire's initial location was corrected to 800 N Palisades Drive from 500 N Palisades Drive, and remains at 40 acres, with containment increased to 30%. Total personnel assigned is now approximately 295 (including all agencies), and one civilian and three responder injuries have been reported. The structures previously threatened and evacuated remains at 628, while structures with damage is reported at 8. There has been no loss of human life or structures destroyed by this blaze. Firefighters continue to work in extremely steep terrain, to ensure flareups do not move past control lines. Multiple locations flared up from smoldering debris within the burn area, however, firefighters made steady progress with continual strategic water drops to increase containment. Tactical patrols will continue to be on the lookout to quickly extinguish any hot spots throughout the night. Fire Crews are working vigorously ahead of an anticipated Red Flag Fire Weather conditions that are expected to begin Thursday morning through Friday evening. We anticipate winds to be between 10 and 25 mph, gusts up to 40 mph, with low relative humidity and increased temperatures.
