Update KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#1860; 02:40AM; 6836 N Lankershim Bl; http://bit.ly/2NBOhGV; North Hollywood; 127 firefighters showed their endurance during a 3 hour and 8 minute battle against several commercial buildings ablaze, spanning across the block between Lankershim and Troost. Firefighters got plenty of practice aiming their heavy streams, with the help of spotters down range guiding them to the right water trajectory. The fire has been defeated by the Major Emergency assignment of personnel. The cause of the fire is unknown and under active investigation. A 10,614 sq-ft auto body parts business is engulfed in flames. Firefighters initially made interior access, and cut holes in the roof to ventilate the fire. As the blaze continued to grow, firefighters were ordered off the roof and out of the building to assume a defensive posture. Companies continue to attack the fire with heavy streams (aerial ladder pipe, portable monitor, 2-1/2" hand lines, etc), as they evade electrical wires that have come down in front of the building. Update Outside Fire; INC#1337; 10:23PM; 4560 W Doran St; http://bit.ly/2JFXqgr; Atwater Village; Up to 90 LAFD firefighters have been flowing water on the recycling yard, now five hours into the incident. The flames have all been extinguished, with minor flare ups when the debris is turned over, revealing heat underneath. Firefighters will continue to drown the pile throughout the night and companies will be brought in to rotate personnel periodically. LACoFD and Glendale FD are on scene assisting. No victims. No structures threatened. One firefighter sustained a minor injury. There are no reported victims or structures threatened. This will be an extended operation, as firefighters continue to take a defensive posture. Containment has increased overnight to 66%. Firefighters worked throughout the night patrolling the fire perimeter and cooling any remaining hot spots. Current objectives for crews today will be to increase and strengthen containment lines. Weak offshore winds of 10-15 mph are expected for wind prone areas of Los Angeles. A low relative humidity trend will continue across Southern California for the foreseeable future.
