Update Plane Down - FATALITY; INC#0722; 01:14PM; Wb 210 Fy x Hubbard St; https://bit.ly/3B9e1Sv; Sylmar; After a thorough search of all void spaces in the aircraft, firefighters did not locate any other victims. One person determined dead in the aircraft (age/gender unknown at this time). The small fuel leak was quickly contained by the first arriving fire companies. There was no fire resulting from the crash. The NTSB is responding and will be the agency for any questions regarding the aircraft and the circumstances leading to the crash. LAFD PIO Firefighter Shawn Lenske is responding for media availability (fire related involvement only). There is a small fuel leak being contained and no fire issue. Traffic on the WB210 will be impacted and drivers are advised to avoid the area. Follow CHP Log# 1315. Sayre St north of 210 will also be impacted and likely closed. One adult male occupant (undetermined condition or site affiliation) will be transported to an area hospital for unspecified illness or injury. Firefighters rescued one pet dog from the residence, who is being medically evaluated at scene by LAFD personnel pending the arrival of Animal Services. No other injuries reported. Their efforts prevented flames from extending to any nearby structure. All occupants are reported to have safely evacuated the structure. No injuries are reported. Suspect vehicle collided with two other vehicles at or near an intersection, including a pick-up truck being driven by a public utility worker. 5 patients total: 3 are seriously injured. 2 have minor-to-moderate injury. None of the patients are law enforcement officers. The intersection of Western Avenue and Franklin Avenue will remain closed to all traffic until the on-site law enforcement investigation is complete. Duration unknown. Motorists, expect congestion and delay, avoid the immediate area and consider an alternate route. Detours are readily available. Monitor traffic reports on news radio.
