Fatality Fire; INC#0233; 04:58AM; 613 N Hagar St; https://bit.ly/3wHCSvS; City of San Fernando; PRELIM: LAFD Firefighters arrived quickly to find a recreational vehicle parked in the rear yard of a single family home well involved with fire, the intense flames threatening an adjacent garage converted to living quarters, and a 15' x 15' tool shed. Three persons in the converted garage were able to escape unharmed. Firefighters also prevented flames from damaging the primary occupied home on the property. In fully extinguishing the burning RV (5:23 AM), firefighters discovered the remains of an adult male within the vehicle. No other injuries were reported. LAFD Investigators have been joined by San Fernando Police Department detectives in a methodical fire cause investigation. There were no injuries reported to either firefighters or occupants. The fire appears to have originated in the attic but a full investigation is underway. Row of two-story townhomes with the fire impacting four units. The fire in the unit of origin extended laterally to three units and up into the attic. The fourth unit had less fire damage but was affected by water and smoke. All occupants were reported to be out of the units prior to LAFD arrival. KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#1290; 06:08PM; 2800 W 7th St; https://bit.ly/3XYdDRG; Westlake; KNOCKDOWN: Over 100 firefighters extinguished the blaze in 53 minutes. There are still small pockets of fire they are working to access and extinguish. There are approximately 8 residential units on the 2nd floor. One LAFD fire engine was on scene (prior to the fire) in support of a LAPD operation at this building. When smoke became visible from a window, the fire officer upgraded it to a structure fire response. LAPD evacuated the building for their operation (prior to the fire) and firefighters are conducting a thorough search to ensure no occupants remained. A 45yo M was transported with non-life threatening injuries and is in LAPD custody. The possible involvement of this patient with the fire is under investigation and no further information is available at this time.
