The structure is showing signs of a potential for collapse. Companies have increased their distance, allowing a buffer for a "collapse zone," a continue flowing heavy streams from the exterior. Intense heat exposed a neighboring five-story residential building, where one unit has caught fire. Thankfully, fire sprinklers are holding the fire in check and preventing rapid spread, as firefighters ascend the stairs to address that unit. KNOCKDOWN Greater Alarm Structure Fire; INC#0278; 08:45AM; 6261 N Laurel Canyon Bl; https://bit.ly/3m1G0hq; #NorthHollywood; Over 100 LAFD firefighters battled the blaze at an abandoned restaurant in defensive mode for two hours and five minutes. The building sustained heavy damage during an extended period of fire that weakened the structural integrity, causing a substantial collapse. Approximately eight other small fires in the same area (within the span of approximately an hour) are being investigated alongside this one by LAFD Arson Investigators, however there is currently no evidence connecting these fires. It is still early in the investigation, and Fire Investigators are working closely with LAPD to gather evidence and track all leads. One person of interest has been detained for questioning. It took 32 firefighters one hour to extinguish the flames, without injury.
