Long Fall; INC#1269; 04:45PM; 2500 S Navy Wy; https://bit.ly/3dtz35b; Port of Los Angeles; An adult male fell approximately 50 feet down onto the deck of a ship (from the superstructure). Firefighters arrived on scene and found there was no confined space rescue or physical extrication required (as previously reported). Firefighters/Paramedics initiated resuscitative measures, but sadly, the man was beyond medical help. Crews determined him to be dead on scene. The details surrounding the event are currently unclear. KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#0086; 02:50AM; 719 W 41st St; https://bit.ly/3wqGsdV; Vermont Square; It took 34 firefighters 61 minutes to extinguish the stubborn attic fire. After beginning in offensive mode on the well-developed attic fire, crews were forced to pull back into defensive mode when the integrity of the roof became questionable. Crews fought from the exterior until flames remained only in an area that structural integrity was not compromised. Shortly after resuming offensive mode, crews were able to extinguish all flames. No reported injuries. Earthquake Mode; INC#0109; 02:00AM; Citywide; Los Angeles; The USGS preliminary report is a magnitude 4.2 earthquake at 2:00 AM PST centered just off the coast of Malibu, California (16km S of Malibu). The LAFD is now in earthquake mode. All 106 neighborhood fire stations will conduct a strategic survey of their districts, examining all major areas of concern (transportation infrastructures, large places of assemblages, apartment buildings, power-lines, etc). This survey will be conducted from the ground, air and sea. Once this process is complete and reports are consolidated, assuming there is no significant damage, Earthquake mode will be complete. This process typically takes less than one hour. There are currently no initial reports of structural damage or injuries. An update will be provided once earthquake mode is complete.; Nicholas Prange

KNOCKDOWN Greater Alarm Structure Fire; INC#0047; 12:52AM; 1770 N Van Ness Av; https://bit.ly/3XSM7VG; #HollywoodHills; Firefighters found a multi-unit garden-style residential building (6-plex) with fire in one upstairs unit and extending into the attic. 58 Firefighters responded, finding that smoke had filled the second floor, but they managed to keep the fire contained to the unit-of-origin, and extinguished the flames in the unit and attic in 35 minutes (1:27am). Three patients were transported to the hospital. One approximately 20-year-old male was in critical condition, and two females (approximately 35 and 70 years old) were in fair-to-moderate condition. No firefighter injuries. Residents from at several units will be displaced and American Red Cross has been notified to support these residents. KNOCKDOWN Greater Alarm Structure Fire; INC#1686; 09:59PM; 10322 N Sherman Grove Av; https://bit.ly/403PXNy; #Sunland; Firefighters arrived to find a single-family home with fire showing from the attached garage (exposing the neighboring home to flames) and a 16-year-old male outside with burns and injuries who was transported immediately in serious condition. Firefighters began the incident in a defensive posture, as there were reports of propane cannisters on site. After knocking back the initial heat and flames, firefighters made entry for interior fire attack on the fire unit, while others battled flames on the neighboring structure (keeping damage to the exterior surface only). The majority of the fire damage to the home was to the attached garage and attic. Ultimately, it took 77 firefighters 43 minutes to extinguish the blaze. One other patient was transported in fair condition.
