Update KNOCKDOWN Brush Fire; INC#0593; 09:34AM; 5600 N Woodley Av; https://bit.ly/3RG8PQg; Sepulveda Basin; A well coordinated effort by LAFD ground crews have confirmed all forward progress of the fire has been stopped. Basin IC has updated the fire footprint to be a 50' x 50' area of heavy brush in the Sepulveda Basin Recreation Center. No injuries reported. No structures threatened. Firefighters will remain at scene mopping up hotspots and completing a damp bare soil perimeter surrounding the burned area. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Update KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#0558; 09:09AM; 2263 W Adams Bl; https://bit.ly/41vavkj; Jefferson Park; LAFD on scene with an updated address of 2255 Adams Blvd. Adams IC has declared a KNOCKDOWN at 0934 hrs. 72 firefighters located and extinguished a fire located on the 2nd floor of an abandoned/vacant charter school (unknown name). Units will remain on scene for an unknown amount of time for overhaul procedures to ensure no chance of a rekindle. No injuries reported. Specific cause of fire is under investigation. The primary goal is to keep the fire confined to the building of origin. LAFD Hazmat specialists are currently monitoring air quality and water runoff to ensure safe operating conditions. DWP is on scene working to de-energize the structure for additional safety. Rubbish Fire - NOW OUT; INC#1744; 10:07PM; 5600 N Reseda Bl; https://bit.ly/4mflmaK; #Tarzana; 33 Firefighters in 43 minutes were able to fully extinguish a rubbish fire in a pre-existing basement having a tunnel passage. Specialized companies Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) unit along with Hazardous Materials unit were used in determining how to access, confine and extinguish smoldering rubbish fire due to tunnel passage. Specialty trained USAR firefighters were utilized in a possible confined space area.
