Firefighters used hydraulic rescue tools to free both patients, but sadly one of them was beyond medical help and had already succumbed to their injuries on scene. Three others were transported: two approximately 30-year-old females in moderate condition, and one approximately 35-year-old female in critical condition (initially trapped). Motorists, expect congestion and delay, avoid the immediate area and consider an alternate route. Detours are readily available. Sadly, the patient was beyond medical help. Due to the fatality, all lanes of the 405 freeway have been closed (unknown duration). Update Structure Fire; INC#1632; 09:02PM; 436 S Boyle Av; https://bit.ly/3IrVZ3n; #BoyleHeights; Forty-six firefighters arrived at the burning vacant home, and immediately went to work protecting the neighboring buildings. Crews did not enter the building due to it being the site of many previous burns and structural integrity was already compromised. Firefighters managed to protect both neighboring residential structures, and have knocked down the bulk of the flames. This will be an extended operation to slowly and carefully finish eliminating hot spots in the burned out fire unit. No reported injuries. Auto vs Motorcycle - Fatality; INC#1548; 07:20PM; 3191 S Sepulveda Bl; https://bit.ly/3ZndGbL; #Palms; Firefighters responded to the scene of an auto vs motorcycle traffic collision, with one car involved with fire. Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames, but sadly, one adult male was killed by the initial collision (not fire). One adult female was transported to the hospital with minor injuries (none fire-related). One or more street lanes will remain closed in the area until the LAPD investigation and Medical Examiner operations are complete (unknown duration). Firefighters initiated an offensive attack and located heavy smoke compartmentalized behind a Ponet (fire) door. They created a hose lay behind the door and made entry to find fire in one unit. Technical Rescue 09/16/2023 INC#1213

Technical Rescue; INC#1213; 05:29PM; 20640 W Valerio St; https://bit.ly/46dAbC3; #Winnetka; Firefighters responded for an adult male who appears to have fallen (or jumped?) from a bridge, into the flood control channel at least 15 feet below. Firefighters took a rigid stretcher (called a litter basket) and secured the conscious patient. To get the patient up to street level, firefighters used ropes/lashing and a ladder, in a rescue maneuver called a "moving ladder slide," where the litter basket is fastened to the ladder and then the ladder (with patient) is passed along a line of firefighters to overcome challenging terrain. The patient was safely brought back up to street level and transported to a local trauma center in serious condition.
