Firefighters initially made entry, but intense fire behavior drove them back out. Using ladder pipes and large hand lines from the exterior, firefighters extinguished the fire and successfully protected nearby structures. No reported injuries. Flames damaged the outside of the apartment building, but did not extend inside the living space. Reinforcements were cancelled. No reported injuries. Update CONTAINED Brush Fire; INC#0496; 11:49AM; 40 Beverly Park; https://bit.ly/2RqN7QG; Beverly Crest; 79 LAFD firefighters (with the help of LAFD Crew 3 and one LACoFD hand crew) contained the brush fire, stopping all forward progress in one hour and 36 minutes. An LAFD drone survey revealed the fire burned 1.8 acres with no damage to any structures. Crews will remain on scene to fully extinguish all hot spots within the burn area.
