A total of five units were evacuated with no occupants reporting any medical complaints. A large scale evacuation is not anticipated. The HVAC ducting is still producing high readings for carbon monoxide and it is turned off. The readings of hydrogen cyanide are decreasing but remain detectable in the most heavily affected corner of the building. Toxic Exposure 01/19/2023 INC#1556

Toxic Exposure; INC#1556; 07:49PM; 7320 W Hawthorn Av; https://bit.ly/3Xoo29t; Hollywood; Firefighters are on scene of a large, 5 story modern center hall apartment building (4 residential over parking). Multiple carbon monoxide alarms activated on the 1st and 2nd occupied floors. Firefighters made entry and the 5-sensor gas monitor indicated the presence of hydrogen cyanide as well as carbon monoxide, predominately in one corner of the building on the 1st occupied floor. Occupants of the three units in the area of highest concentration were evacuated and the units are being ventilated. Additionally, firefighters are evacuating the units above those, on the 2nd occupied floor. All others are being sheltered in place while firefighters continue to check levels in the surrounding units (it is dropping off significantly as they move further down the hall). There were construction workers doing repairs (including welding) on the ducting for the heating/air conditioning in the most affected unit. LAFD Hazardous Materials Squad is responding and consulting with the Incident Commander while enroute. KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire 01/19/2023 INC#0967

KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#0967; 02:30PM; 3217 W Adams Bl; https://bit.ly/3kst8CW; Jefferson Park; KNOCKDOWN: 32 firefighters extinguished the fire in 24 minutes. Fire was located in a wall on the 1st floor and the smoke traveled up the wall to the attic vents. Crews isolated and were able to prevent the fire from extending up into the 2nd floor/attic of the unit. There were no injuries reported. Cause and $ loss TBD.
