Red Flag Parking Restrictions 11/05/2024

Red Flag Parking Restrictions; 04:30PM; Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zones (VHFHSZ); https://bit.ly/RedFlagMap; Due to the forecasted weather conditions, the Red Flag Parking Restriction Program will be activated TOMORROW November 6, 2024, at 8:00AM, for *at least* 24hrs and quite possibly longer. It is important that fire apparatus have room to respond quickly to a fast-moving brush fire while simultaneously allowing residents to evacuate, if necessary. During Red Flag Parking Restriction periods, vehicles illegally parked in posted locations within the Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zones (VHFHSZ) will be towed. The parking restrictions are planned for at least 24 hours and will be reevaluated based on the weather conditions. For areas in the VHFHSZ, please look for the "Red Flag Days" no parking signs and ensure you do not violate the restriction. Visit www.LAFD.org/redflag for up-to-date information on the status. Prior to LAFD shutting down the hydrant, water was hitting the roof of a commercial building (DBA Guitar Center) resulting in a partial collapse. No injuries reported in the building. LA Dept of Building and Safety notified to respond for building evaluation. Update Tank Truck - FATALITY 11/03/2024 INC#1734

Update Tank Truck - FATALITY ; INC#1734; 06:00AM; Nb 110 Fy; https://bit.ly/3YPI2Fe; Broadway-Manchester; CalTrans brought absorbent and LAFD assisted in laying it out to contain the fuel hazard. Firefighters drilled four holes into the tank to give access for the fuel offload operation conducted by the truck company ownership. Private wreckers on scene to up right the tank trailer to prepare it for removal. Firefighters will perform an extrication operation to assist the LA County Medical Examiner’s office with victim recovery. LAFD had a total of three patients: one deceased, 45yo male and 30yo female transported with minor injuries. LAFD had no contact with the tank truck driver who transported to the hospital by private vehicle. CHP = accident investigation. There is no current timeline for reopening the freeway, drivers are advised to seek alternate routes. Update Tank Truck Rollover - FATALITY 11/03/2024 INC#1734

Update Tank Truck Rollover - FATALITY; INC#1734; 01:45AM; Nb 110 Fy x Manchester; https://bit.ly/3YO0f5V; Florence; Patient update: LAFD has three total patients; 45yo male, 30yo female were transported with minor injuries. One patient deceased in vehicle under tanker truck. The driver of the tanker truck was reportedly transported to the hospital by private vehicle and had no contact with LAFD (Update: Driver declined LAFD treatment). There is an estimated 8,000 gallons of aviation fuel remaining in the tank and 500-1000 gallons on the ground. LAFD is assisting CalTrans with the laying down of an absorbent to control and mitigate the spilled fuel. Once complete, the owner of the tanker will handle off-loading the fuel while LAFD provides safety oversight. LAFD will then assist the LA County Medical Examiner in extricating the victim from the vehicle (may require up righting the truck). This will be an extended duration incident with an unknown timeline.
