Update Traffic; INC#1464; 08:48PM; 11414 Iverson Rd; https://bit.ly/3Zm0CCZ; Chatsworth; The large sink hole is fully cutting across the southbound lane of Iverson Road. The entire road is compromised. There were a total of four patients trapped in the sink hole. Two patients self-extricated, uninjured, prior to LAFD arrival. Firefighters then secured the vehicles to limit shifting, which had already occurred twice. The road was continuing to sluff and deteriorate, necessitating an immediate rescue to save their lives. Firefighters conducted a high angle rope rescue operation, using the aerial ladder, and safely extricated both patients. They were treated and transported with minor injuries. The incident will be transitioning to law enforcement for full road closure and the appropriate City agencies can evaluate and safely remove the vehicles to being road repairs. Three pediatric patients: 18 mos, 13 yo, 16 yo (genders unknown) and a 35 yo female. All are in *at least* critical condition with at least one of the pediatric patients in grave condition. Update Hazardous Materials; INC#0169; 05:41AM; Nb 110 Tr; https://bit.ly/3GRs3xt; Downtown; LAFD HazMat Squad confirmed there are no propane leaks at this time. There is slight damage to the tank. The only leak was of engine oil which has been diked and prevented from spreading. There are no signs of fuel leaking. The normal operation for this type of incident involves the off-loading of the load into an empty tanker prior to the overturned vehicle being moved upright. The tanker company has an empty truck enroute and the next step actions are being evaluated. This is a static situation and firefighters have protection lines (charged handlines) in place as standard precaution. This will significantly impact the morning commute and drivers are advised to follow CHP alerts and traffic updates for alternate routes.
