Update Hazardous Materials Investigation; INC#0999; 02:35PM; 649 S Mission Rd; https://bit.ly/3NKXEDB; #BoyleHeights; An LAFD Hazardous Materials team has determined the still approximately 5 gallon-per-minute leak of a clear corrosive liquid was the result of a puncture to the underside of one (unknown capacity or current cargo volume) railway tank car. Though BNSF Railway personnel are at scene, it has been determined that Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) will be the responsible entity, and their staff has been summoned to the scene. The adult male witness (still undetermined site affiliation) who reported the leak, remains at scene. There are no other patients, and no escalating or off-site hazard has been identified. The 150' isolation area in all directions from the leak will be maintained in the railroad right-of-way and nearby industrial area until LAFD and/or UPRR personnel stop the leak.
