Update Hazardous Materials; INC#0373; 07:32AM; 18251 W Napa St; https://bit.ly/4lQt5vy; Northridge; Crews remain on scene of a burning Lithium-Ion powered tractor. Crews found the fire confined to the battery compartment of the tractor. LAFD is allowing the affected "skid steer" tractor to burn due to the hazardous nature of the lithium-ion batteries. Crews will allow the batteries to release all of their energy before final extinguishment. LAFD resources will utilize water to keep the involved unit from igniting other pieces of equipment, but due to the reactivity of the batteries and associated hazards of applying water to them, they will not apply water directly to the batteries. The tractor is expected to continue to burn for several hours. Evacuation warnings are in effect for fourteen (14) homes. Evacuation Orders are in place for four (4) homes. All effected residents have been notified. Street Closures are in effect on Napa between Lindley and Reseda. LAPD remains on scene to ensure security and public safety of evacuation areas.
