Structure Fire - Now Out; INC#1172; 05:44PM; 14748 W Burbank Bl; https://bit.ly/3L9H3Ij; #ShermanOaks; Firefighters responded to a four-story apartment building (3 residential floors over a parking level) with smoke showing. Firefighters found flames consuming a balcony and burning inside of one unit. Crews quickly extinguished the flames, which appear to have started with a lithium ion battery on the balcony. Hazardous Materials specialists are responding to assist with disposing of the battery. Ultimately, it took 30 firefighters 23 minutes to extinguish the flames (6:07pm). No reported injuries. Crews are continuing to work to evacuate the smoke from the building. KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#1689; 08:50PM; 21700 W Roscoe Bl; https://bit.ly/3RVKGW5; #CanogaPark; Firefighters battled flames in one upstairs unit of a two-story garden-style apartment building. Crews quickly developed a water supply from a nearby fire hydrant and extended hose lines upstairs to the fire unit. Ultimately, it took the first 32 firefighters 14 minutes to access, confine, and extinguish the flames. No reported injuries. One patient was ejected and one was trapped. Firefighters extricated the trapped patient, but sadly they were deceased at the scene. Paramedics are planning for transport of the other patient. CONTAINED Brush Fire; INC#1030; 02:40PM; 11798 W Foothill Bl; https://bit.ly/3W79TPP; #HansenDam; LAFD ground and air resources were joined by Angeles National Forest and Los Angeles County Fire Department in Automatic Aid to assist with the "Stone Fire," near the Hansen Dam. Containment was achieved in less than an hour (3:30pm), and the fire was held to approximately 2 acres of vegetation. Crews remain on-scene to address hot spots and ensure all threat has been neutralized. Update Traffic Collision with Fire 07/01/2024 INC#1671

Update Traffic Collision with Fire; INC#1671; 08:15PM; 13136 W Sherman Wy; https://bit.ly/3xKa9eb; #ValleyGlen; One vehicle with two occupants collided directly into the rear of a vehicle parked curbside, which created a chain-reaction collision ultimately causing damage to four vehicles (one occupied and moving, and three unoccupied and parked-in-line). Though the errant vehicle caught fire shortly after the collision and was well involved on firefighter's arrival, the two adult male occupants of that car had been able to extract themselves from the wreckage prior to fire department arrival. The flames were quickly confined to the errant vehicle and the first vehicle it collided with. The two men, one in fair condition, the other in serious condition, were taken to an area hospital by LAFD Paramedics. No other injuries were reported.
