The outside titanium pile are not causing any structural or extension threats and being allowed to burn. LAFD HazMat Squad is on scene to mitigate any water runoff concerns. Firefighters are establishing hand lines and water supply while evaluating the best strategy (due to titanium reaction with water). KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#0729; 12:24PM; 1605 E 4th St; https://bit.ly/3klji1U; Boyle Heights; KNOCKDOWN: 36 firefighters quickly initiated a fire attack and extinguished the fire in 16 minutes. A primary search did not locate any occupants and no injuries reported. The adjacent buildings were defended from any extension of the fire. The building is compartmentalized with numerous interior rooms in which firefighters are conducting a secondary search to ensure no one is inside. Cause and $ loss TBD. The fire had also extended into the kitchen of the structure. Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames in 15 minutes, without injury. The area is cordoned off and LAFD Haz Mat crews are on scene to begin the process of identifying the materials (if possible) and determine what further actions need to be taken.
