Sink Hole; INC#0369; 08:13AM; 567 S Mission Rd; https://bit.ly/3E16mGK; Boyle Heights; LAFD responded to a large sink hole where, thankfully, there were no injuries. However, as the hole expanded, a vehicle near the edge was at risk of falling in and colliding with gas lines below. LAFD Heavy Rescue 3 responded and recovered the vehicle before it potentially caused a greater hazard. Crews will remain on scene to ensure public safety. DWP and Gas Company have been notified. One adult male was transported in critical condition. Crews are making entry to conduct a thorough secondary search to ensure no further victims remain inside the building. The two exposed residences were defended from any damage. The bulk of the fire is extinguished and crews continue to root out the remaining pockets of fire. The structure is a partial collapse at this point. CONTAINED Rubbish Fire; INC#0528; 11:12AM; 841 S Mission Rd; https://bit.ly/3vcCkfZ; Boyle Heights; Twenty-eight firefighters extinguished the flames in 78 minutes, confining the fire to one-quarter acre and at least one vehicle inside the city yard adjacent to the vegetation. Several fire engines worked together to bring water to the fire's location, which had no hydrant or water source nearby. Firefighters extinguished the auto fire and constructed containment lines around the vegetation. No reported injuries.
