KNOCKDOWN Truck Fire; INC#0457; 09:48AM; Eb 101 Fy; https://bit.ly/3QBRU0s; #Encino; Companies on scene initiated a water shuttle (rotating several engines, each filling and delivering water to the scene) from nearby street hydrants due to incident location on the freeway. A total of 9 propane tanks (23 gallons each) were monitored while they fully relieved and emptied, preventing explosion. The 20-foot box truck, initially fully involved with flames, was then completely extinguished. Full knockdown 74 minutes. No containment issues, though limited lane and nearby road closures will persist until propane tank assessment and overhaul of the incident is complete. 1 patient (44M) with minor burns to his hands is currently refusing transport to the hospital. KNOCKDOWN Truck Fire; INC#0400; 09:23AM; 2000 S Granville Av; https://bit.ly/41wYTxF; #Sawtelle; Several fire companies were added to this incident, for a total of approximately 42 firefighters on scene. 4 compressed natural gas tanks located on top of the sanitation truck were monitored while they discharged completely. Fire companies remained in defensive posture until tanks were empty, then proceeded to fully extinguish fire in the body and cab of the truck. Knockdown was achieved in 90 minutes; companies will remain on scene for approximately one hour for overhaul. No injuries. Compressed natural gas cylinders were identified on top of truck, with at least one PRD (pressure relieving device) activated and releasing gas. Structure Fire - Fire Out; INC#1494; 07:33PM; 21340 W Devonshire St; https://bit.ly/437r1Zy; Chatsworth; LAFD received reports of smoke emanating from a guest room at The Holiday Inn. Arriving units made entry into the hotel room to find a well involved fire confined to the guest room couch, which activated fire sprinklers. Sprinkler activation held the fire in check to the room of origin. A 40 y/o female was located down in the room next the smoldering piece of furniture. Firefighters quickly extricated the patient to an awaiting rescue ambulance, who transported the victim suffering from smoke inhalation. No additional civilian injuries or hotel property damage was reported. Cause of fire is under investigation. LAPD Inc #3613.
