Update Investigation; 10:27PM; 1724 N Highland Av; internal:/; Hollywood; Significant portion of LAFD resources have been released while the joint LAFD / LAPD investigation continues. The area will be CLOSED for several hours to allow for both the investigation and then street clean up prior to being re-opened. As this is an active investigation, we do not anticipate any further updates tonight nor a determination of cause. The one patient initially assessed on scene was believed to have been a bystander lacking adequate footwear, resulting in some minor abrasions. LAFD did not transport the person. Update Investigation; 08:36PM; 1724 N Highland Av; internal:/; Hollywood; Firefighters continue to check all floors (to include subterranean garage) for the presence of any gas (using meters) and thus far, none detected. The one patient initially found on scene left of their own volition. Restaurant name is "Tinhorn Flats Saloon and Grill" it was not open at the time of incident. The cause is now under active investigation and no further information to be released until invest is complete (time unknown). Once final determination made of the lack of any gas readings throughout the remainder of the building, LAFD will begin to release resources. Update Investigation; 07:59PM; 1724 N Highland Av; internal:/; Hollywood; Preliminary reports of natural gas explosion in the 1st floor restaurant. The gas has been secured off. The 1st floor of residential (above restaurant) being evacuated and all other floors sheltering in place. One patient being evaluated for unknown injuries (age/gender/condition unk). Gas readings and technical search being conducted on the residential floors to ensure no occupants remain in a hazardous environment.
