Smoke conditions have intensified and now heavy fire showing through the roof. The incident commander ordered crews off the roof and out of the structure, transitioning to defensive mode (fighting the fire from the exterior only). Firefighters prevented flames from entering the attic of the 200' x 200' structure. No Injury. KNOCKDOWN Structure Fire; INC#0975; 02:54PM; 3428 W 59th St; https://bit.ly/3GCseJi; Hyde Park; Firefighters have knocked down the bulk of the flames, which were well-developed in the attic space of the one-story home. The fire compromised the roof structure, leaving some hard-to-reach pockets of heat that will require an extended operation to remove debris and fully snuff out all hot spots. It took 41 firefighters 51 minutes to extinguish the flames. No reported injuries.
